FAQ
Finding the best Doctor, who is best suited to your needs, stage of life, state of health and someone you trust can be daunting and many of us have gone from pillar to post. So, why a Homeopath or Integrative Practitioner, and what about all the things you've seen online?
I've answered many people's concerns and questions in my practice, through the lecturing I due at universities and the radio and TV interviews I've. Here are many of those questions and my answers.
-
Are Homeopaths registered in South Africa?Yes - in order to practice, legally, in South Africa a Homeopath has to be registered with the Allied Health Professionals Council of South Africa (AHPCSA). You can ask your Doctor for their practice number to make sure they are correctly registered.
-
What qualifications does a Homeopath need?In order to practice as a Doctor or Homeopathy you have to graduate with an M. Tech. Hom. from one of the Universities that offer this course in South Africa like U.J. or D.U.T. This qualification is a full time medical and scientific degree in classical, clinical and modern Homeopathy. A Doctor can also posses a compounding and dispensing license, which allows them to dispense certain medications from a dispensary in their practice.

Dr Schultz follows a Functional Medicine approach to diagnostics and treatment of her patients, applying homoeopathic, botanical, vitamin, mineral and amino acid medicine as required. Can a Homeopath diagnose?Yes, a Homeopathic degree is a medical and scientific degree, which includes in-depth diagnostics. The big difference is that Homeopaths are interested in finding the root cause of a symptom or disease and not simply dealing with a single symptom. Your initial appointment with Dr Schultz will be an hour long, in which she will create a full picture of you, looking at your lifestyle, previous and current conditions and medications as well as the symptoms that have brought you to her practice. She may send you for blood tests to further understand your entire physical condition before diagnosing and developing a bespoke treatment plan for you. Her focus is the overall optimal well-being of her patients.
-
Is Dr Schultz covered by Medical Aids?Dr Schultz is contracted out but is covered by most Medical Aids. All of her Invoices feature the relevant ICD-10 codes required by Medical Aids.

What is Homeopathy?Homeopathy is a therapeutic medical system that follows the Law of Similars, in fact the word Homeopathy is derived from the Greek words "homoios", meaning like, and "pathos", meaning suffering. What this means in plain terms is that the substance that caused the illness of the body or mind can be used in a highly diluted form to cure the ailment. Dr. Samuel Hahnemann (1755-1843) was the physician who developed the use of this therapeutic principle of similars, in 1796.

Does Homeopathy really work? The biggest, false claim made about Homeopathy is that there is no evidence or research to prove that Homeopathy works. There are, in fact hundreds of peer-reviewed research documents, proving the efficacy of Homeopathy in the treating of everything form Neuralgia, to Inflammatory Disease, to allergies, to Fibromyalgia, to Post-Partum symptoms, to Migraine, to Asthma, ADHD etc. etc. I have found great success for my patients in my practices through careful, thorough diagnosis and prescribing for many of the above-mentioned conditions as well as many more.
